Among my favorite things about TV are, in no particular order, "Freaks and Geeks," the stock footage of oversized American midsections that's always shown accompanying news stories on obesity, and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," all powerhouses of direction, writing and acting. Every cast member on "F&G" and "Buffy" was great, so I expected them all to go on to massive stardom. But nothing really happened. Sarah Michelle Gellar has just been making crummy movies (nobody will believe you acting scared in a horror movie when they identify you with killing vampires), and Linda Cardellini went from "F&G" to a role on "E.R." They starred together in the art film Scooby Doo, and its controversial sequel (hey, if you're going to let Vincent Gallo direct, you can't expect him to not make a Vincent Gallo movie). Then, shortly after "F&G" went under, Sarah Hagan (Millie!!) crossed over to a recurring role on "Buffy," continuing a pattern of teaming up the ex-casts of these shows. . . .
