While I'm counting up highlights, who could forget the November 7, 2007 episode of "Saturday Night Live," hosted by Michael Cera, with musical guest Yo La Tengo? Not me, that's for sure. What's that, you say? Missed that one, did you? Oh right, it wasn't on TV! It was a live performance of the show with the full cast, at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in NYC, proceeds benefitting their non-WGA staff. All the skits that night were written before the strike began, they were really funny and almost all of them were too dirty to have ever made it to air. After "Weekend Update", we played "Mr. Tough," and then right before the end of the show we played "Little Honda" (radio edit, no freakout). A teaser from my forthcoming "Backstage at Saturday Night Live" book: Bill Hader is tall, Amy Poehler is short. Did Andy Samberg hug me during the goodnight waves? Only those who were there know for sure. Best Episode Ever.
